First, there are local artisans and vendors who will occasionally set up a booth here and there where they are selling goods that they made by hand! This is not only a great place to find a gift to bring back home, but also a great way to support a local family and the economy here in Hawai’i. Another option is to make your way over towards Pearl Harbor, where you will find the famous ‘Aloha Stadium Swap Meet‘ where vendors erect their booth’s around the stadium. A great way to find items truly from Hawai’i is to venture outside of Waikiki. Most commercial sunscreens contain a chemical called “oxybenzone,” which is usually listed under Active Ingredients. In 2015, a study by a team of international scientists found that oxybenzone and other chemicals in sunscreen can “bleach” coral. And it’s exactly what it sounds like. As coral loses nutrients, it turns white and then dies.

National Geographic reported that 14,000 tons of sunscreen are thought to wash into the oceans each year. More than one-quarter of the world’s live coral cover has been lost in the last three decades, according to NOAA. That’s scary because large numbers of marine species depend on coral for their habitats. So if we lose coral, we might risk losing other ocean life.

Apparently, the Swedes invented a good eco-friendly alternative, which is a dishcloth that is made of plant material (70% cellulose and 30% cotton). They’re just as absorbent as regular paper towels, but you can use them several times. To clean them, you can wash them in a dishwasher or washing machine.

Plastics hurt the oceans because they break down over hundreds or thousands of years into ‘micro-plastics’, which can then be mistaken for food and eaten by ocean creatures. Then those plastics can travel through the food chain and build up in bigger ocean animals, like whales, or even make their way into our foods.

Silicone is a good alternative because silicone doesn’t break down into micro-fragments. And it is safe to incinerate without polluting the atmosphere.

Replacing a product with a more eco-friendly version is one thing, but making lifestyle changes that will have an impact over time is an even more powerful way to help protect the environment.

We’re not trying to sell you on veganism because it’s trendy or healthy. The fact is that a vegan diet is better for the planet. There is a place where you can get your souvenirs tax free without paying taxes at the store. A place called TGalleria (DFS) is a very nice place located in Waikiki. This is a highly recommended place to go visit once and see what they have available for you. If you need souvenirs from Hawaii this is the perfect place to shop.

TGalleria Waikiki Store

Duty-Free Shop DFS TGalleria is in the central part of Waikiki. If you ever need any local stuff tax-free this is the place for it. There are three floors available for shopping. 1st floor has foods and sweets from Hawaii.  Second floor is mostly make-ups from all around the world and the third floor has a high brands that requires a passport and air ticket to buy. TGalleria used to require a passport and air ticket for all floors but now they have changed it to only on the third floor that has high brands.

TGalleria Waikiki has been in Hawaii for quite a long time and has been renovated since they opened. They have special lounges for people who have credit cards from certain companies. They have special events that occurred quite often for those who want coupons and like to receive special deals. They have numerous sales time to time. Their pineapple juice that is sold inside the store is must try it’s Pineapple juice from Hawaii.

What is special about DFS?

There are competitive stores all around Oahu but, There are not many stores that has every brand available for you to shop at one place. And don’t forget DFS is Tax-Free so you don’t have to worry about getting taxes charged. DFS has staffs all around the world that can speak many languages. There are information counters that you can ask about inside store other things as well.

DFS is opened from 9:30 AM till 11 PM HST each day. Perfect place to find some gifts for anniversary, birthday, Christmas, and other events. The place is very air conditioned and very organized and clean. The staffs are also nice and sweet with high standard services. The washroom is very very cleaned to other places.

DFJ Galleria is very close to And You Creations office. It is next noor and only takes less than 5 minutes to go visit. The products at DFS are unisex and it’s not only for women but there are lot’s of mixed clothes and products for everyone so even a man can come here no problem.

1. Small backpack for the children

Who doesn’t like being in charge? Let your kids take the lead, and give them a backpack. Put some of their games and favorite books in it, and the children won’t get bored as you are hopping from island to island!

2. Two swimsuits per child

Yes, that’s right. If you don’t want your children to get sick, bring two swimsuits. You should always have a dry suit and a towel with you to make sure your child doesn’t shiver.

3. Waterproof floating case

Given that Hawaii is the most isolated land mass in the world, you are guaranteed to have some encounters with water.  Whether you are snorkeling, diving, swimming or surfing, don’t forget to bring a waterproof bag.  You can get one to leave on the boat or even take underwater with you. Have your keys, cards, cash, IDs, etc. in a safe place so you can have a blast without having to worry about your personal items!

4. The emergency kit

Just in case, put the following in a small, sealed case:

• bandaids
• neosporin
• Benadryl (you never know when bugs will bite you)
• pain reliever
• aloe vera gel.

After spending a week in Hawaii, you might get sunburned. Don’t let the sun ruin your holiday.
