You’ve seen some of our guides about what to do on the beautiful island of Oahu, and there’s definitely more to see than just Honolulu and Waikiki. If you’re planning on enjoying most of the lesser-known attractions outside of the city center, you should get a car rental for Oahu.
But you don’t need to rent a car for the entire trip! If you are staying on Oahu for several days, you can rent for just part of your visit at a discount car rental and take off on some of your adventures around the island. Even a one-day rental will allow you to experience some of the truly Hawaiian excursions of Oahu that make it so different from the other island destinations. Check out some of these scenic drives around the island that will lead you to your next adventure.
The stretch of Farrington Highway on Oahu’s north shore begins in Waialua and dead ends right before Kaena Point State Park. Along the way, you’ll pass a few scenic beach parks and Dillingham Airfield, where you can do some sky diving
Coast along Kalanianaole Highway between Hawaii Kai and Waimanalo where you’ll see scenic cliffs with many lookout points along the way, including views of Halona Blowhole and Eternity Beach.
For a peek into the rainforest, drive along canopy-covered road, Nu’uanu Pali Drive. If you don’t have time for a rainforest hike, coast along this road and enjoy the lush vegetation.
