How to Spend 6 Hours at Pearl Harbor?

When you book our Pearl Harbor Shuttle, you’ll have plenty of time to explore all the significant sites at Pearl Harbor. Here’s a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of your visit:

1. Visit the USS Arizona Memorial (1 hour)

The USS Arizona Memorial is the heart of Pearl Harbor, and it’s where most visitors start their journey. You’ll spend time at the memorial, learn about the history of the attack, and watch an informative documentary that gives you a deeper understanding of the tragic events of December 7, 1941. The entire experience includes the ferry ride to the memorial, which takes about 10-15 minutes each way, along with time to reflect at the memorial itself. Plan on spending around 1 hour here, including the film, ferry ride, and time at the memorial.

Important Note: To visit the USS Arizona Memorial, you must have an Arizona Memorial ticket, which can be reserved ahead of time at Recreation.gov or obtained by standing in line on the day of your visit. We recommend arriving early, as tickets can be limited.

2. Explore the Battleship Missouri (1 hour)

The Battleship Missouri, also known as the “Mighty Mo,” is another must-see at Pearl Harbor. This historic battleship is where Japan officially surrendered to the Allies in 1945, ending World War II. Allocate about 1 hour to explore the ship’s decks, learn about its history, and enjoy the guided tours available on-site. You can also explore the Battleship Missouri Memorial on your own if you prefer not to take a guided tour.

3. Discover the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum (30-45 mins)

Next, head over to the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum, where you can explore the inside of this famous WWII submarine. It’s a fascinating experience for anyone interested in naval history. Expect to spend about 30-45 minutes here to learn about life underwater during the war and explore the exhibits.

4. Explore the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center (30-45 mins)

The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center offers a range of interactive exhibits, photos, and artifacts about the attack on Pearl Harbor and the events that led up to it. Whether you’re interested in the history of the ships or the personal stories of those involved, there’s something for everyone. You’ll want to spend about 30-45 minutes here to enjoy the exhibits and watch the short films.

5. Visit the Pacific Aviation Museum − Especially if You Have Kids! (45 mins – 1 hour)

If you’re traveling with children or have an interest in aviation history, the Pacific Aviation Museum is a fantastic addition to your visit. Located on Ford Island, this museum showcases historic aircraft from World War II and beyond. With interactive exhibits and the chance to see real planes up close, it’s an engaging experience for visitors of all ages. Plan to spend around 45 minutes here to explore the exhibits and enjoy the family-friendly displays.

Note: Battleship Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum is located on Ford Island, so be sure to use the complimentary park shuttle to get there. The park shuttle runs every 15 minutes, but if it’s full specially on the busy season, you may have to wait for the next one. From the Visitor Center to the Battleship Missouri, it takes roughly 10-15 minutes by the park shuttle. Please be sure to allow enough time to return to the Waikiki-Pearl Harbor Shuttle pick-up from Ford Island.
