1. Honolulu Zoo
Located in Queen Kapiʻolani Park, the Honolulu Zoo is just a short walk from Waikiki Beach. A fun activity for the whole family, the zoo houses over 1,230 animals in specially designed habitats. Just don’t forget the sunscreen and water as it can get toasty!
2. Waikiki Aquarium
The second oldest public aquarium in the US is fun, and educational, for the whole family. The aquarium is home to over 3,500 organisms of 490 species of marine plants and animals and perfect for young kids since it’s on the small side and takes about an hour to walk through. One of the easier Oahu activities for families!
3. Ala Moana Beach
Located on the stretch of coast between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, Ala Moana Beach is a great place for families because of the calm waters. Less crowded than Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana is free and is protected by a shallow outer coral reef, making it a great place for a swim with the kids.
4. Halona Blowhole
The larger the waves, the larger the spray at this fun outing for tourists of all ages. Also known as the “Peering Place” the blowhole is a natural occurrence formed by molten lava tubes from volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago. Just a 10-15 minute drive from Waikiki, Halona Blowhole also has a scenic walk along the coast that everyone can enjoy.
5. Dole Pineapple Plantation
The plantation, which originally operated as a fruit stand beginning in 1950, has been open to the public for over 25 years. Hop aboard the Pineapple Express Train Tour, which is a fun time for the whole family. And don’t leave without getting some of that delicious pineapple ice-cream.
