Whales and You offers one of Oahu’s most popular whale watching tours, giving guests the chance to observe majestic humpback whales in their natural habitat along Hawaii’s scenic coastline.
This seasonal ocean tour departs from Waikiki and is available only during Oahu’s winter whale season, from December through March.

Whale-Sighting Guarantee Policy
- The Whale-sighting Guarantee allows free rebooking only; no refunds are given if no whales are sighted.
- The captain will only designate a tour as a “no-whale-sighting tour” if no guests on the tour spot a whale. If even one guest sees a whale, the tour will not qualify as a “no-whale-sighting tour.”
- If the captain determines that no whale was sighted, you may rebook the “Whales and You” tour for free until a whale is seen.
- Free rebooking is only valid for tours with open seats, and specific dates or times cannot be guaranteed.
- Guests who cannot join another tour during their stay may redeem the Whale Guarantee at any time within three years of the original tour date.
- Free rebooking applies only to the original guest(s) and cannot be transferred.

Guests who select transportation will be picked up from designated Waikiki locations by our signature Turtle Trolley. Enjoy the breeze and island views on your way to Kewalo Boat Harbor.
Board our modern double-decker boat, the Ariya II, equipped with mood lighting, surround sound, and a Titanic-style front railing for panoramic views. Restrooms and shaded areas are available onboard.
We begin each Oahu whale watching cruise with E Ho Mai, a traditional Hawaiian chant asking the sea gods for a safe and abundant journey. A beautiful moment of culture and connection to start the tour.

Cruise along Oahu’s Gold Coast in search of wild humpback whales. Our crew will help spot whale spouts, tail slaps, and breaches near the surface. This is one of the best winter activities in Waikiki.
When conditions allow, we’ll lower an underwater microphone into the ocean. Guests can listen to live humpback whale songs amplified through the boat’s sound system, an unforgettable experience unique to our tour.
As you watch for whales, our expert-trained crew will share interesting facts and stories about humpback, dolphins, and other sea life around the Hawaiian islands. Educational and fun for all ages!
As we head back to Kewalo Harbor, relax with a live hula performance onboard. Join the crew as we dance together, share aloha, and give thanks for the day’s journey!
As our Oahu whale watching adventure comes to a close, we return to Kewalo Harbor in Honolulu. Sit back, relax, and take in the final ocean views as we safely dock. We hope this incredible encounter with humpback whales leaves you with lasting memories and stories to share.

Important Information
Please review the following information before booking to ensure a safe and enjoyable whale watching experience.
- Tours operate seasonally from December 1 through March 31.
- A minimum of 10 guests is required for the tour to operate. If this minimum is not met, you will be offered alternatives or a full refund.
- If you don’t see whales, you may rebook another tour at no extra cost (*Please see the detail→).
- Shoes are not allowed on the boat for safety. Storage is provided onboard. Clean reef shoes and grip socks are permitted.
- We cannot accommodate special dietary needs. Guests with allergies should bring their own food.
- The tour will still operate in mild weather conditions. We will contact you if any rescheduling is necessary.
- Our boat and Trolley are NOT wheelchair accessible.
- Strollers cannot be accommodated on our trolleys or boats.
- Infants and young children are welcome, but must be held and supervised by a caregiver at all times, as onboard conditions may include waves and rocking.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations or changes made at least 48 hours before departure are eligible for a full refund.
Cancellations within 48 hours of departure are non-refundable.
Optional Trip Protection is available at booking and allows changes or cancellation up to 1 hour before departure.

Oahu Humpback Whale Watching Tour
My wife and I booked to the Whale watching tour, and boy oh boy did we see plenty of humpback whales. This was a magical moment, with the crew being very friendly and informative to all passengers, keeping us up to date with sightings of Whales and we saw a pod of Dolphins which was a bonus. From the booking office staff, to the trolley bus ride to the harbor of which Cheryl was a joy to interact with, and of course the crew who ensured we were all briefed on the quayside before boarding the boat. Once onboard the crew made us all very comfortable and relaxed, then we received the key points on safety briefing. Big shoutout to Captain Jeffrey, Captain Zack, crew members Bennet, Megan (hula queen), Corr, and any other crew member's name I may have missed. In summary, this whale watching tour was a moment in our lives we shall cherish forever. Thank you to everyone who made this a magical day. Thanks for the amazing donuts and coffee on board. We had booked the whale tour but saw no whales but instead saw a group of dolphins swimming next to the boat. Jeremy the captain told us that we qualify for a rebooking of the whale tour. We did for the following day and were blessed to see 3 whales. Jeremy, Benny, Meghan, Cole, Zac, and Hendrik were very good guides and we had a fabulous time front the moment Cheryl came to pick us up. Would definitely rebook with and recommend andyoucreation.

We had such a great time on this whale watching tour! We started with such a warm and entertaining welcome from Sheryl, who transported us to the boat. Our 3 year old even got a little birthday gift! Then, had a great time on the boat with Jeremy, Kendrick, and Zach. We got some great whale sightings in, learned a lot too! Enjoyed delicious donuts, music, and a performance. All around a great time! Would definitely recommend and do it again!

Whales and You is a great group of people to go with to see whales. From the time that Cheryl picked us up in her bus until we left the harbor with the boat captain this group of people went above and beyond to show us a good time. From the donuts when we got on board to the hula dancer before we left, they were there for a fun time. Oh, we didnt see a whale but the captain took us out further and tried his best. We got back about an hour late because he really wanted us to see one. He even said to call and reschedule for another day to try again! You can't beat that!!! (April 2026)

This trip was awesome! We went out on Sunday and didn't see any whales. I love that the crew was just as disappointed as we were. We rebooked for free very easily for the following Tuesday and we got to see whales and a shark! The crew, led by Jeremy, were fun, funny, knowledgeable, and sincere. They have snacks and drinks and are very focused on safety, but just as focused on fun. We rode the bow the whole trip and had a blast! Thanks, guys! If we're ever there again, we will see you again! My daughter and I went out for a whale watching tour, however the whales were not cooperating. AYC told us we could rebook which we did and it was simply amazing. We saw adult whales, baby whales, a shark, flying fish and a sea turtle. The crew were very nice as well as very knowledgeable and very entertaining. We had a wonderful time and stood on the bow the entire tour. I highly recommend AYC, and you'll have an unforgettable experience. (March 2026)

This was a great experience. To start, we got picked up by one of the sweetest, most funny trolley drivers. Thank you Cheryl for a great experience. We definitely felt like family! Next up, we were greeted by an attentive and friendly crew. Zack, Jeremy, and Meg were just fantastic! Even with the water being choppy, they made it entertaining and engaging with their fun facts. We also saw whales with their calfs! Just a splendid experience. 10 out of 10, highly recommend.

We went on the "Whales and You" tour. I wasn't expecting too much but WOW! It was awesome! We saw a group of whales (3 or 4) that surfaced often and breached twice. Our captain Zach and crew Bennett and Kendrik were great and so much fun and I have to give a shout out to Cheryl our shuttle driver, she was the best. Thank you to AYC for making this tour amazing, it was the highlight of our vacation. (March 2026)

It was an amazing tour. The sunrise from dawn was beautiful and tranquile. The landscape of Diamond head was as splendid as the gleam of the sea. The captain and staffs are super attentive for us to be safe. Often you could see a lot of cute dolphins jumping by the yacht. During the tour, in between the guide gave us interesting facts about humpback whales in Hawaii and origin of how we come call Diamond head Le'ahi. We sang a traditional hawaiian song together and they showed us hula dance. Captain Jack knows the spot where humpback whales might come up the sea and do his best to show us them. We finally saw whales spouting water and their tail shining. Thanks for lovely tour🐳 (February 2026)

Excellent Whale Watching Experience! We had an absolutely wonderful time on the whale-watching cruise in Oahu. The entire experience was smooth, relaxing, and so memorable. We were lucky to spot multiple whales, and the crew made sure everyone had a great view while sharing interesting facts about the whales and Hawaiian marine life. The snacks provided on board were really good and added to the comfort of the trip. The Hawaiian lūʻau–style dance performance was a beautiful touch — it brought so much authentic island spirit and made the cruise feel even more special. Overall, an amazing experience for families and visitors. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Oahu!

Whale watching is a must in Hawaii during this time of the year! We were so lucky to have captain Jeremy, Megan, and Kendrick on our crew. They were very knowledgeable about the whales and taught so much about them. They did a great job looking for them and even stayed an extra 30 minutes so we were able to see more of them, which is a plus! We also had super yummy and fresh taro mochi donuts from a local shop.
Cheryl, our bus driver, was also very sweet! She gave us fun facts about local traditions and their language. And Risa from the front desk staff was helpful and answered any questions I had 🙂

First day we saw nothing, but the company immediately offered a free rebooking for the next day without any problems. The second trip was fantastic – lots of whales, dolphins, and even flying fish! The crew was super friendly, smiling, and full of energy. When we saw nothing the first time, the captain did a Hawaiian dance to cheer us up – everyone loved it Great snacks and drinks on board too.
